3 Idiots (Hindi: थ्री इडीयट्स) is a 2009 Indian comedy film directed by Rajkumar Hirani, with a screenplay by Abhijat Joshi, and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. It was the highest-grossing film in its opening weekend in India and has the highest opening day collections for a Bollywood film. It also has the record for highest net collections in the first week for a Bollywood film. Within 10 days of its release, the film crossed the 
1 billion mark in India and became the first film of 2009 to do so. The film also created a new box office record for a release in the last quarter of a year (October to December), breaking the previous record set by Ghajini. It is also the highest-grossing film to be released in the second half of the year (July to December), breaking the previous record also held by Ghajini. This was broken later by the 2010 Tamil science fiction film Enthiran.[3]

The brains behind the innovations were Remya Jose, a student from Kerala, who created the exercise-bicycle/washing-machine, Mohammad Idris, a barber from Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh, who invented a bicycle-powered horse clipper, and Jahangir Painter, a painter from Maharashtra, who made the scooter-powered flour mill.[6] The film is scheduled to be remade as Nanban in Tamil cinema and as 3 Rascals in Telugu cinema.[7]
Jalan Cerita / Sinopsis / Review
Berkisahkan mengenai dua sahabat bernama Farhan [R. Madavhan] dan Raju [Sharman Joshi] yang berangkat untuk mencari kawan lama mereka yang hilang. Dalam perjalanannya, mereka menghadapi sebuah pertaruhan lama yang sudah mereka lupakan, sebuah acara pernikahan yang harus mereka datangi dan acara pemakaman yang berakhir tak karuan. Saat mereka berangkat menuju tempat berbahaya, suatu perjalanan lain dimulai: yakni perjalanan pribadi mereka mengarungi kenangan dan kisah tentang kawan mereka – Rancho [Aamir Khan] dengan cara berpikir beda dari masyarakat luas – yang dengan caranya tersendiri telah menyentuh dan mengubah kehidupan mereka.
Film ini awalnya menyebar dari Twitter yang selanjutnya dari mulut ke mulut yang sampai-sampai bukan penggemar film India pun tampaknya akan ‘terperangkap’ juga untuk membeli tiket dan menonton film ini.
Film 3 Idiots tidaklah seperti film Bollywood kebanyakan. Dengan plot cerita yang dominan komedi, yang untungnya komedinya memanglah lucu dan terdengar cerdas. Sang penulis cerita juga menampilkan hasil dari ideologi pemikirannya lewat percakapan dan kejadian yang sangat menyentuh. Film ini pun sukses menyampaikan kritik terhadap cara mendidik yang terlalu textbook sehingga tidak merangsang perkembangan individu, hingga menyentil masalah kurang meratanya pendidikan terutama di India.
Seperti sewaktu adegan Raju menanyakan alamat di secarik kertas ke penjual kacang, si penjual malah menjawab, “Kalau saya bisa baca, ngapain saya jualan kacang.”
Penulis cerita film 3 Idiots ini memang sukses meramu tangisan dan tawa dalam satu adegan. Harus diakui 3 Idiots mengemban pesan-pesan yang penting, bahkan krusial bagi kehidupan setiap manusia dengan kemasan yang ringan dan sangat menghibur. Dengan elemen yang masih tetap Bollywood seperti, film berdurasi lama (yang nyaris 3 jam), tarian dan nyanyian, kisah cinta melodrama, bahkan hujan. Tetap saja recommended bagi setiap orang karena ada pesan bernilai lebih melalui film ini untuk Anda nikmati.

Synopsis
The storyline with the movie takes place between 1994, beginning with scenes from the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Swank plays the role of Erin Gruwell, a new, excited schoolteacher who leaves the safety of her hometown, Newport Beach, to teach at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, a formerly high achieving school which has recently put an integration plan in place. Her enthusiasm is rapidly challenged when she realizes that her class are all "at-risk" high school students, also known as "unteachables", and not the eager college students she was expecting. The high school students assimilate into racial groups in the classroom, fights break out, and eventually most of the high school students stop attending class. Not only does Gruwell meet opposition from her high school students, but she also has a difficult time with her department head, who refuses to let her teach her high school students with books in case they get damaged and lost, and instead tells her to focus on training them discipline and obedience.
One night, two high school students, Eva (April Lee Hernández), a Hispanic girl and narrator for much of the film, and a Cambodian refugee, Sindy (Jaclyn Ngan), frequent the same convenience store. An additional student, Grant Rice (Armand Jones) is frustrated at losing an arcade game and demands a refund from the owner. When he storms out, Eva's boyfriend attempts a drive-by shooting, intending to kill Grant but misses, accidentally killing Sindy's boyfriend. As a witness, Eva must testify at court; she intends to guard "her own" in her testimony.
At school, Gruwell intercepts a racist drawing by one of her high school students and utilizes it to teach them about the Holocaust. She gradually begins to earn their trust and buys them composition books to record their diaries, in which they talk about their experiences of being abused, seeing their friends die, and being evicted. Determined to reform her high school students, Gruwell takes on two part-time jobs to pay for more books and spends a lot more time at school, to the disappointment of her husband (Patrick Dempsey). Her students start to behave with respect and discover a lot more. A transformation is specifically visible in one student, Marcus (Jason Finn). Gruwell invites various Jewish Holocaust survivors to talk with her class about their experiences and requires the students to attend a field trip to the Museum of Tolerance. Meanwhile, her unorthodox training methods are scorned by her colleagues and department chair Margaret Campbell (Imelda Staunton).
The following year comes, and Gruwell teaches her class again for its sophomore (second) year. In class, when reading The Diary of Anne Frank, they invite Miep Gies (Pat Carroll), the woman who sheltered Anne Frank from the German soldiers to talk to them. After they raise the money to bring her over, Miep shares her experiences hiding Anne Frank. When Marcus tells her that she is his hero, she denies it, claiming she was merely doing the right thing. Her denial leads to Eva to rethink her plan to lie during her testimony. When she testifies, she finally breaks down and tells the truth, much to some of her family members' dismay and to her own risk.
Meanwhile, Gruwell asks her students to write their diaries in book form. She compiles the entries and names it The Freedom Writers Diary. Her husband divorces her and Margaret tells her she cannot teach her kids for their junior year. Gruwell fights this decision, eventually convincing the superintendent to permit her to teach her kids' junior and senior year. The film ends with a note that Gruwell successfully prepared numerous high school students to graduate high school and attend university.
Jalan Cerita / Sinopsis / Review
Freedom Writers merupakan film yang didasarkan atas kisah nyata kehidupan seorang guru diLong Beach , California Erin berprofesi sebagai guru bahasa Inggris ketika isu rasisme di Amerika begitu hegemoni. Ia memasuki dunia pendidikan yang rasis setelah dua tahun keributan L.A menjadi pembicaraan hangat di masyarakat. Dengan penuh harapan, Erin mengajar bahasa Inggris di kelas 203, di mana terdapat beragam gank ras yang selalu mengelompok, seperti ras kamboja, kulit hitam, Hispanic, dan seorang kulit putih.
Pada awal kedatangan Erin , para murid sama sekali tidak tertarik dengan kehadirannya. Mereka sangat sentimen terhadap orang berkulit putih. Mereka menganggap bahwa Erin tidak mengerti apapun tentang kehidupan mereka yang keras, kehidupan yang selalu berada di bawah bayang-bayang perang dan kekerasan. Bagi mereka, kehidupan adalah bagaimana caranya mereka ”selamat” dari kekerasan, hingga penembakan yang mengatasnamakan “ras”.
Banyak tantangan yang harus dihadapi oleh Erin , baik dari pihak sekolah yang rasis, hingga pihak suami dan ayahnya. Diskriminasi yang dilakukan oleh pihak sekolah, seperti pemisahan kelas, serta perbedaan fasilitas yang kentara antara ras kulit putih dan ras di luar itu membuat Erin miris. Agar diterima oleh anak-anak didiknya, Erin mencari cara untuk melakukan pendekatan dan metode pengajaran yang tepat. Namun, sejak Erin disibukkan dengan pendekatan terhadap anak-anak didiknya dan bekerja paruh waktu, timbul masalah baru, ia diceraikan oleh suaminya. Hingga pada akhirnya, ayahnya yang semula tidak mendukung, berbalik mendukung pekerjaan Erin .
Akhirnya, keteguhan Erin dalam mendidik mereka berbuah hasil. Anak-anak tersebut, yang semula benci satu sama lain Karena perbedaan ras, akhirnya menjadi berteman dan mendobrak sekat-sekat ras di antara mereka. Bahkan, ketika ada kasus penembakan yang menimpa seorang kawan anak didiknya, ia mengajarkan tentang arti kejujuran.
